Red Light Therapy for Hair Loss in London
Red light therapy for hair loss in London is a gentle, non-invasive way to improve the micro circulation to the scalp, reduce localised follicle and scalp inflammation and support hair growth. At The Hair Office in Battersea we offer Red light therapy as part of a bespoke treatment plan and longer term management programme for optimum hair and scalp health.

What is Red Light Therapy?
Red light therapy consists of low levels of red light and near infra red. Part of the light spectrum, red led is non invasive and doesn’t cause harm to the skin, unlike high level or hot lasers. This allows the light to help repair and heal. The technical term is Photobiomodulation, which can help energy sources in our cells to repair.
With various wavelengths of the light spectrum, the specific wave length used for hair health and hair regrowth is 625nm. Clinical-grade LED sends red and near-infrared light into the scalp, improving circulation and calming any inflammation in the hair follicle or on the scalp.

How does Red Light Therapy work?
Some studies show Mitchondria can absorb red light and use this to boost energy production to help with cell repair.Anecdotally it is widely accepted a wavelength of 625 – 750nm used consistently over several months can help with hair rejuvenation. Red light has been shown to regrow thinning hair when used correctly.
Red light as a stand alone treatment can help maintain a healthier scalp, can help to calm any conditions like Psoriasis of the scalp.
When used in combination with powerful exosomes and PRP or other regenerative hair growth treatments, they compliment each other and can help achieve greater results than when used alone. Better blood flow and reduced inflammation can help keep scalp and follicles healthy.
Who is suitable for Red Light Therapy
Red light therapy is suitable for both men and women. It is also ideal for anyone who has Psoriasis or Eczema on their scalp. It is gentle, non invasive, and both drug and hormone free.
Red Light Therapy for Hair: Your Questions Answered
Does Red Light Therapy hurt?
Not at all. It is completely painless, with no downtime. You can return to your day immediately after each session.
How many sessions will I need?
Depending if you are seeking treatment for Psoriasis or Eczema or hair growth treatment, a course over several weeks is usually needed, followed by ongoing maintenance. Many people notice changes after 6 – 8 weeks and after several treatments, however it can take 3 – 6 months with any hair treatments to achieve real realistic results.
Will the results last if I stop?
Red light can help with one part of a bigger picture. As a maintenance treatment, the benefit builds with consistent use and gradually fades if you stop, so it works best as part of an ongoing routine.
Can it regrow hair on a bald patch?
No. It can help stimulate follicles that are dormant or resting. It cannot bring back hair where the follicle has already died. A scalp assessment will show what is realistic for you.
Is Red Light Therapy safe?
Yes. The risk of side effects is extremely low, provided the light is not shone into the eyes, which is why it is best carried out under proper supervision and goggles must be worn to protect the eyes.
Can I combine it with PRP or other treatments?
Yes, that’s the best use of Red light therapy. It reduces inflammation, improves the scalp environment for regenerative treatments, so it is frequently used alongside PRP, polynucleotides, Calecim or the Hair Cocktail mesotherapy treatment.

Why Have It Done by Kelly Morrell
A scalp detox is only as good as the eye reading the scalp and the hand doing the work. Knowing how much to exfoliate, where a scalp is out of balance and how it fits a wider plan is exactly the sort of judgement that comes with experience.
Kelly Morrell has worked in hair loss since 2014 and in aesthetics since 1994, with a 2024 Finalist nomination for Hair Restoration Practitioner of the Year behind her. Fantastic I had a consultation at the hair office with Dr Mehta and Kelly Morrell. The atmosphere was really relaxed they put my mind at rest about the treatment which was only mildly uncomfortable and relatively pain free . The treatment administered by Kelly took approximately twenty minutes. The results exceeded my expectations, within 6 weeks I could see changes in my hair which has continued to improve after my second treatment . I wholeheartedly recommend them.
