PRP Hair Treatment London
Thinning hair rarely announces itself. It is often first noticed as a few extra strands on the pillow, a parting that has gradually widened, or a photograph that makes you pause and look twice. By the time many of our patients book a consultation, they have usually already tried shampoos, supplements or over-the-counter products, hoping the problem would improve on its own.

Rebuild Density Naturally with PRP Hair Treatment at The Hair Office, London
PRP Hair Treatment takes a different approach. Rather than simply disguising hair thinning, it uses a concentrated part of your own blood, rich in natural growth factors, to support existing hair follicles and encourage healthier hair growth.

At The Hair Office in Battersea, PRP is provided as part of a comprehensive assessment of hair loss. Our aim is not simply to recommend treatment, but to understand the underlying cause of your hair thinning before developing a personalised management plan.
What is PRP?
Platelet-Rich Plasma This is a treatment in which we take a small sample of your blood, similar to a routine blood test, and process it in a medical centrifuge. As the centrifuge spins, the platelet-rich plasma separates from other blood components. This plasma, contains a high concentration of naturally occurring growth factors which is injected into areas of the scalp where the hair has started to thin.
These growth factors—including TGF-β, PDGF, VEGF and IGF—are proteins your body already relies on whenever it repairs and regenerates tissue. By concentrating and delivering them to existing hair follicles, The PRP creates a healthier environment for hair growth and supports follicles that have become weaker or less active.
Because the treatment is prepared entirely from your own blood, no synthetic substances are introduced, and there is no risk of an allergic reaction to a foreign material.
It is important to have realistic expectations. PRP cannot regenerate hair from follicles that are no longer active. It is most effective where follicles remain present but have become either dormant or producing finer hairs, known as miniaturisation. This is why early assessment is so important. Starting treatment while there are still viable follicles gives us the greatest opportunity to preserve and improve hair density.

Who PRP Hair Treatment Helps
PRP can be an effective treatment for many patients experiencing early or progressive hair thinning.
We recommend PRP for patients with androgenetic alopecia (male and female pattern hair loss) and, in selected cases, for patients with Alopecia Areata or other nonscarring forms of hair loss, following an appropriate clinical assessment.
It is suitable for both men and women and is often an excellent option for patients who wish to avoid surgery or who are not yet suitable candidates for hair transplantation.
PRP can be combined with other hair treatments. Depending on your condition, it may be combined with treatments such as topical or oral medications where clinically appropriate, Calecim Advanced Hair system microneedling or a planned hair transplantation as part of a personalised management plan.
During your consultation, we will discuss which treatments will help you achieve your goals and design a bespoke treatment plan for you.
Why Patients Choose The Hair Office for PRP
Many clinics in London offer PRP treatment. What makes The Hair Office different is our emphasis on careful assessment, evidence-informed recommendations and personalised treatment planning.
Dr Anju Mehta leads your consultation and treatment planning. She holds an MBBS, MD and the JCCP-approved Level 7 Diploma in Injectables, the highest recognised postgraduate qualification in injectable aesthetics in the UK. Before moving into aesthetic and regenerative medicine, she spent more than twenty years working in anaesthesia, both within the NHS and overseas.
That medical background continues to shape her approach today. Every recommendation is based on careful assessment, patient safety and realistic expectations. If PRP is unlikely to provide meaningful benefit, she will tell you. If another treatment—or no treatment—is the better option, that recommendation will always come first.
Working alongside Dr Mehta is Kelly Morrell, a hair restoration specialist with more than thirteen years’ experience dedicated exclusively to non-surgical hair restoration, and a finalist for Hair Restoration Practitioner of the Year 2024. Kelly’s expertise in trichoscopy, scalp assessment and hair restoration allows us to understand why your hair loss is occurring before recommending the most appropriate treatment.
Together, we combine medical expertise with specialist hair restoration experience to develop personalised management plans that focus on long-term hair health rather than short-term solutions.
What can I expect during a PRP session?
The treatment itself is straightforward and usually takes around one hour from start to finish.
• A vial of blood is taken from your arm, similar to a routine blood test.
• The sample is processed in a medical centrifuge to isolate the platelet-rich plasma.
• The platelet-rich plasma is then carefully injected into areas of the scalp affected by hair thinning using very fine needles.
Standardised clinical photographs are taken throughout your treatment programme so we can monitor your progress objectively over time. Hair growth occurs gradually, and photographs often demonstrate improvements that can be difficult to appreciate from day to day.
Most patients describe the treatment as mildly uncomfortable rather than painful. There is very little downtime, and most people return to work or their usual daily activities immediately.
We recommend avoiding strenuous exercise, alcohol, swimming and washing your hair until the following day unless advised otherwise
What PRP Can Realistically Achieve
PRP is designed to support the health of existing hair follicles and is most effective when treatment is started before significant follicle loss has occurred. PRP is designed to support the health of existing hair follicles and is most effective when treatment is started early. Many patients notice:
• Thicker, fuller-looking hair from the follicles you already have.
• Reduced hair shedding and slower progression of hair thinning.
• Improved hair quality and density over time.
• Support for follicles that have become weaker or miniaturised.
• Improvement in scalp health, with some patients reporting less irritation or tenderness.
• A natural treatment that fits easily around normal daily life.
While many patients experience noticeable improvement, results vary from person to person. Factors such as the underlying cause of hair loss, the duration of hair thinning and individual biological response all influence the outcome. During your consultation, we will discuss what you can realistically expect based on your individual assessment.
Before We Recommend Treatment
We do not recommend treatment without first carrying out a comprehensive consultation.
Your consultation includes a detailed discussion about your concerns, medical history, medications, family history of hair loss and previous treatments. We will also examine your scalp and hair using trichoscopy to assess hair density, follicle health and the pattern of hair loss.
Where appropriate, we may recommend further investigations, such as blood tests, if there is a possibility that an underlying medical condition, nutritional deficiency or hormonal imbalance is contributing to your hair loss.
If PRP is the right option for you, we will explain the treatment in detail, including the expected benefits, limitations, treatment schedule, costs and aftercare. If another treatment is likely to provide a better outcome, we will discuss this with you honestly and recommend the approach that we believe is in your best interests.
Our philosophy is simple: to recommend the right treatment for the right patient at the right time.
Combining PRP with Other Hair Loss Treatments
Although PRP can be very effective as a stand alone treatment, at the Hair office we choose to use it as part of a broader treatment plan.
Depending on your diagnosis, PRP may be combined with medical treatments where clinically appropriate, microneedling, polynucleotides, growth factor therapies or hair transplantation.
By creating a bespoke treatment plan we can optimise long-term outcomes. Your management plan will always be tailored to your individual needs.
Why Early Assessment Matters
Hair loss is often progressive. The earlier the underlying cause is identified, the greater the opportunity to preserve existing hair.
Many patients wait until hair thinning has become significant before seeking advice. However, PRP is generally most effective when viable hair follicles are still present.
Seeking an assessment early does not necessarily mean you need treatment immediately. It simply allows us to establish the cause of your hair loss, discuss the options available and help you make an informed decision about the most appropriate next steps.

Fantastic I had a consultation at the hair office with Dr Mehta and Kelly Morrell. The atmosphere was really relaxed they put my mind at rest about the treatment which was only mildly uncomfortable and relatively pain free . The treatment administered by Kelly took approximately twenty minutes. The results exceeded my expectations, within 6 weeks I could see changes in my hair which has continued to improve after my second treatment . I wholeheartedly recommend them.
