This test is overseen by Dr Anju Mehta and Kelly Morrell.
Understand the Internal Drivers of Your Hair Loss, Needle-Free Hair Loss Wellness Test
Hair thinning is not always just about the scalp. In many people, changes within the body can influence hair growth long before they become obvious in the mirror. At The Hair Office in Battersea, we use a needle-free Hair loss wellness test to help build a broader picture of your overall health as part of your hair restoration consultation. This test is overseen by both Kelly Morrell & Dr Anju Mehta

Hair loss may be influenced by factors such as nutritional status, oxidative stress, inflammation and general wellbeing. Looking at the scalp alone does not always provide the full picture.
Our needle-free wellness assessment is designed to complement your clinical consultation by providing additional information that may help us personalise your treatment plan. It is quick, comfortable and does not require a venous blood sample or finger prick.
Why looking beyond the scalp matters
It is possible to have a healthy scalp but still experience ongoing hair thinning if internal factors are affecting the hair growth cycle.
Nutritional deficiencies, chronic inflammation, oxidative stress, hormonal changes, lifestyle factors and general health can all influence hair quality and growth. While not every patient will have an underlying medical cause, understanding your overall health can help us make more informed treatment recommendations.
Without considering these factors, it can be difficult to know whether scalp treatments alone are likely to achieve the best possible outcome.
Our approach is to assess the whole person and not just the hair.
What we assess
As part of your wellness assessment, we review a range of physiological and lifestyle factors that may influence hair health.
Depending on your assessment, this may include information relating to:
- Nutritional status.
- Oxidative stress.
- Inflammatory balance.
- General metabolic wellbeing.
- Hydration and cellular health.
- Lifestyle factors that may influence healthy hair growth.
These findings are interpreted alongside your medical history, scalp assessment and trichoscopy to help us develop a personalised management plan.
Where appropriate, Dr Mehta may recommend that you see your GP or arrange conventional laboratory blood tests if further medical investigation is indicated.

The Needle-Free Part
This is often the part that patients appreciate most. There is no venous blood test and no finger prick. Needle phobia is genuinely common, affecting something like one in ten adults, and for a lot of people it is the very thing that has kept them from getting checked at all. This provides a comfortable pain free needle free alternative while allowing us to gather additional information that may help guide your treatment plan.
A small hand held needle-free scanning device is placed gently against the skin to begin the assessment. The process takes only a few minutes and is completely pain free and blood free.
Looking at the bigger picture
No single assessment tells us everything about your hair. That is why we combine your wellness assessment with a detailed medical consultation, scalp examination and trichoscopic assessment. Where appropriate, we may also recommend genetic testing or further medical investigations.
Each assessment answers a different question. Your consultation helps us understand your medical history, Trichoscopy allows us to assess your scalp and hair follicles. Your wellness assessment provides additional information about physiological factors that may influence hair health.
Together, these help us build a clearer understanding of your hair loss before recommending treatment.
Rather than relying on assumptions, we aim to develop a management plan that is based on your individual findings, concerns and treatment goals.
What Happens With Your Results
You will not be handed a sheet of numbers and left to work it out. Your results are reviewed and explained to you, and where something needs addressing, it becomes part of your plan. Sometimes that means a supplement or a dietary change. Often it means we can proceed with a treatment like PRP, polynucleotides or Calecim knowing there is nothing internal working against you.
Why Have It Done at THO?
A wellness assessment is only as valuable as the clinical expertise used to interpret it in the context of your overall health and hair concerns.
Dr Anju Mehta and Kelly Morrell bring more than twenty years of experience to that process, interpreting your results alongside your medical history, scalp assessment and wider clinical picture rather than in isolation. Together, they can integrate these findings into your personalised hair restoration plan.
It is the combination of medical expertise and specialist hair restoration knowledge that allows us to develop recommendations tailored to your individual needs, rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all approach.
Hair Loss Blood Test: Your Questions Answered
Does it actually involve no needle?
Yes. There is no venous blood sample and no finger prick.
A small hand held needle-free device is placed gently against the skin to begin the required scan for the assessment. The process takes only a few minutes and is completely pain free and needle free, making it an excellent option for those who are anxious about needles.
How long does it take, and when do I get results?
Why should I have a wellness assessment if I am already having scalp treatments?
Hair health is influenced by more than the scalp alone.
Internal factors such as nutritional status, inflammation, oxidative stress, medication and general wellbeing may all influence how your hair grows and responds to treatment. Understanding these factors allows us to personalise your management plan and identify whether any additional investigations or recommendations may be appropriate.
Do I need this as well as the genetic testing?
The two assessments provide different types of information and may complement one another.
Genetic testing helps us understand your inherited predisposition to hair loss and how you may respond to certain treatments. The wellness assessment provides additional information about your current physiological wellbeing.
Together with your medical history, scalp assessment and trichoscopy, these assessments help us develop the most personalised treatment plan possible. During your consultation, Dr Mehta and Kelly will advise which assessments are appropriate for your individual circumstances.

Fantastic I had a consultation at the hair office with Dr Mehta and Kelly Morrell. The atmosphere was really relaxed they put my mind at rest about the treatment which was only mildly uncomfortable and relatively pain free . The treatment administered by Kelly took approximately twenty minutes. The results exceeded my expectations, within 6 weeks I could see changes in my hair which has continued to improve after my second treatment . I wholeheartedly recommend them.
